Thomas MacPhee

Tom was born and raised in Conifer, Colorado–a small town in the Rocky Mountains. He graduated summa cum laude from Hillsdale College with a B.A. and departmental honors in Economics. During his 1L summer, Tom worked as a research assistant to Professor Avishalom Tor and interned for Judge Michael Hegarty in Denver. During his 2L summer, he worked as a summer associate at Jones Day in Dallas. On campus, Tom won first place and best oralist in the Justice Amy Coney Barrett Moot Court Tournament. His other campus involvement includes serving as Prompt Chair for the Notre Dame Religious Freedom Tournament, working as a Teaching Assistant for Torts, and competing as an oralist on the Moot Court Team. Following graduation, he will clerk first for Judge Joan Larsen on the Sixth Circuit and then for Judge Benjamin Beaton on the Western District of Kentucky. In his free time, Tom enjoys experimenting with chili recipes, reading Great Books, and playing board games with friends.
